Kids Were Here | April 2013

I am so excited to be a part of the ‘Kids Were Here’ project!

The project includes a group of passionate photographers who are setting out to document details of evidence that Kids Were Here. It is a fabulous idea introduced by the very talented and creative Ketti Photography.

Everyday, as parents of children of all ages, we are surrounded by their stuff. We move through the days, weeks and months so quickly…let us take a moment to enjoy it all. Their messes, their things, their favorite toys that you’ve tripped over 1,000 times, their collectibles, their diapers…

Jude Wood, one of the photographers in this awesome group, perfectly described…”In the moment it is easy to get frustrated with all the mess and clutter that results from living with children. This set reminds me how quickly it will all pass. One day the toys will be in totes no longer played with. I will miss this. I’m reminded to slow down. To not stress about it…One day we will have a wonderful reminder –
evidence left behind written upon our hearts and minds of our children. Photographs that will bring us back to this very day, when our kids were here.”

This first set of mine includes some of the daily things in our life. I know that too soon, these things will be replaced by new things, ‘older kid’ things…so for now, I’m going to embrace my nightstand drawer of diapers and know that someday it will again be taken over by my own junk. ; )

  1. That drawer full of diapers brought me right back to the days I had my older kids go and grab me a diaper for the babies. I always love the softness to your images Alana, so pretty!

  2. Drawer full of diapers…love it. That has been my reality for 10 years…potting training now so soon my drawer will be gone. You’ll probably see my diapers next month. 🙂 love it.
